Cosy day

We decided to keep it cosy today... The boys have been warned that we are taking their tablets away, come Tuesday and, after school starts, video games/Youtube will only be for weekends. So, today, they are definitely getting their fill ;) It suits me because it was my clean-til-I-get-absolutely-fed-up day and it was nice to be able to get it done without having to ref a bunch of fights!

Yesterday, Alexander's soccer team won their game so they are going straight to the finals. How exciting! We celebrated by getting together with some friends that we coach with (same family that we went camping with.... guess if they invited us back that they still like us, despite the camping). It was a late night but lots of fun, with great food and friends. I am going to miss the summer crowd!

Tomorrow is the last day off before we all return to school.... Wow! Where on earth did the time go?

Happy Sunday to you all!

Last day at the pool...

Today was the last day at the pool. Really, it feels like the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. I have to admit that I was not at the pool to witness it because I really had to catch up at work for the start of teaching (first thing on Tuesday... argh!) but I know that the boys are sad to see this summer go. They had a great time... and I did too!

Can you tell that Nicka lost both of his top front teeth? ;)

Wishing you all a very happy weekend :)

All about what is possible...

When I used to live in Denmark, pre-children, I used to fantasize about having one of those very white, very sparse, very Scandinavian style homes. You know, the ones in designer magazines... like Ikea, only better... Kind of like this:

Then we had children... boys... three of them... so our house looks more like this:

It is all about what is possible ;) Have a great day!!! I am trying, even though some of it involves cleaning!!

The man and his masterpiece :)

Oliver made this lovely little flower for me. Sometimes, he is so delicious that I can eat him up :) These are the types of memories that I will keep with me as they grow up... and I find that it happens all too fast!
Good night to all xox

Back to the routine

Sorry about being MIA yesterday. We got home and everyone was so exhausted. Alexander asked to go to bed around 7:30pm and the other boys followed shortly afterwards- insert shocked face here. After tucking them in, I totally crashed on the couch and only got up to go to bed at 9:30 :) It was COSY!!!
Today I went back to work (!!??!!!) and it was kind of nice! I have to admit that, working from home all summer, I felt so out of the loop and a little bit overwhelmed for the start of the semester. It was nice to be in the environment and see other profs also stress out ;) See, students, it is not just you guys!! Misery loves company, I guess.... hehe!
We're now preparing a BBQ dinner... well... actually, Andreas is out with the BBQ and I am here, writing ;) Hope everyone had a great day... and a peaceful evening! Cheers!

On my way back to work...

THAT kind of day..

This weekend is literally packed with back-to-back soccer games (for everyone!). While I am so happy that the kids are being active - and me too-, it DOES get a bit tiring so here is to the end of the Saturday part of the marathon... ;)

Cheers! Wishing you all a nice evening and a great rest of the weekend! I'll check back in tomorrow :)

Post camping hurricane ;)

My husband wonders why camping is not my absolute favourite thing to do. I took a picture of one of the reasons why it is not (laundry hurricane)... the other is the packing (otherwise known as putting all this crap INTO bags).... the other is skunks, just beside our tent, waking me up in the middle of the night...
The rest is not so bad ;)

Yes, all this is now folded and put away... I deserve a medal ;)

Winding down

It just really struck me today.... summer is winding down and school is starting very soon. I mean, I knew that this was the case but, today, it really struck me. The boys are dressed in their sweat pants, Oliver is back to full time daycare and I have spent the day organizing my fall semester classes. I am wearing a long sleeve shirt and jeans. The fans are all off. The air smells differently. Yes- summer is definitely winding down...

I am a bit sad and a bit excited, all at the same time...

Camping survivorship ;)

We had a lovely 4 days of camping... yes, I actually said that! Although camping is not my first choice for a holiday (hmm... nice hotel off a beach, maybe? Trip to Paris? Greece? Copenhagen?), it was nice. We went to Sandbanks Provincial Park in Ontario and I really recommend it, especially if you are bringing kids... or multiple kids ;) Great beaches, family friendly camping sites and it is close to a really cute little town (Picton) for emergency supply pick up ;) We went with another family and it was great- the kids all entertained themselves (SERIOUS kid tornado), allowing the adults to enjoy a bit of mamma/pappa juice and a few moments of relative sanity ;) Only bad thing = really, really stinky outhouses!!!! This is coming from 2 mothers who changed the diapers of 7 kids total :P

It IS nice, though, to come home, shower and ditch the homeless person status ;)

A way to torture mothers... otherwise known as "we're going camping" ;)

You know how I sometimes write about the boys' non stop fighting... well, because we are totally smart individuals, we are now going to bring all their fighting/energy into a small tent!!!! Yes, we are going camping! Thankfully, we are going with another couple and their 4 kids (mothers unite over nightly wine). Watch out, campground! Tornado coming through...
We are leaving tomorrow so this blog may be quiet for the next few days. If you don't hear from me by the end of next week, please find us by locating the tornado pathway into Ontario via Google maps ;) Oh yeah, we have a dogsitter staying at our house so, potential robbers, don't get any ideas :)

Wish me luck! AND wine :)

Joy! I get to pack all the clothes, too ;)

Brotherly love ;)

Over the past few days, it has been super cold and very rainy so we have been stuck indoors. We were supposed to have left to go camping on Tuesday but, thankfully, the men (we're going with another couple) decided it was best to pospone the trip. I CANNOT imagine being stuck in a tent with 3 bored small boys and 1 bored big boy ;) Torture! Even in our house, with 2 floors and different rooms, the boys keep fighting because they are bored. Today, I found a note, written by Alexander (see pictures). Guess we all know how he feels about his brother? ;)

Happy weekend to you all!

This is what our weather looks like lately...

So, Alexander, how do you really feel about your brother? ;)

Sometimes he sleeps....

Yes, sometimes Oliver sleeps.... I have evidence! I love our little man <3

Another awesome Etsy experience

This time I bought some leggings at DGstyle (link here). Shopping at this store is always such a pleasure... the leggings come so nicely wrapped. It feels a bit like Christmas ;) The leggings are funky and well made. Just ask ahead of time which ones are meant for to be worn as leggings because some of them are a bit sheer and meant to be worn under skirts... Dace also makes other great items like felt rugs, felted slippers and tops. Love all the way from Latvia :)

PS: This post is not sponsored... I just recommend it!

Like Christmas!

Scented sachet... <3

My new leggings!

Ice cream happiness

We had a deal.... if the boys scored a goal during their last soccer game, we would go out for ice cream. Alexander scored one and Nicka scored two! As for Oliver, well let's just say that we got him to run... that is already something ;) Now Andreas and I had to keep up our end of the bargain so we let the boys pick their "dream" ice cream (= somthing that we don't usually let them order). We compensated by taking a walk around the village where the ice cream shop is. It was a lovely evening...

See you later!

One EXCITED boy!

Heaven!

Chocolate milk shake!

Andreas too!

Kung Foo Fighter ;)

Cosy window

Main street... boys up ahead!

City beaches

Nicka's soccer party was held at a park, not far from our house. It is pretty amazing that something so close to a city like Montreal can look like it is far off in the country! We had a great time on the "beach" at this park, especially Oliver. If there is green, gooey stuff in the water, tons of sand and big bags of chips then he is in heaven. The other boys had lots of fun, playing soccer in the sand. Andreas and I had a beer..... 'nuff said. All this and only 30 minutes outside of Montreal! I absolutely love the city green space. It is so important for the quality of life around here and so worth keeping. Let's hear it for the city beach!

Happy Monday to you all!

Happy day!

Hanging out during crazy times....

It has been another super busy weekend... Alexander and Nicka both had their end of the season soccer games/parties and I started my playoffs today. The party for Alexander's team was also my "thing" so I had to plan that... During all the craziness, Andreas and I managed to find about 5 minutes to hang out. We even took a picture to prove it ;)

After all that, I am now enjoying a glass of wine, at home, and RELAXING :) Ahhhhh... What is the next bit of chaos on its way?  I am sure that there is something ;)

Happy end of the weekend to you all! See you on Monday!

Funny kid

Yesterday, I wrote about our love for a certain Chinese buffet restaurant (!) Anyway, Oliver cannot sit down during a meal so I ended up having to get up with him so that he could look at all the different food... again.... again.... and again. He ended up making friends with the stir fry chef, who gave him a fortune cookie. Excited, Oliver opened it and asked me to read it to him. I told him that it said: You will be a great statesman. Your ability to lead will open doors. Not a bad fortune for a 4 year old, I thought.

Oliver's answer: I don't like that email, Mamma!

?????? Too much technology????  ;)

All you can eat...

My boys (small and big alike) all LOVE an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet near our house. If you ask them why, it mostly has to do with the spaghetti (?), sausages (?), calmari (?) and desserts (???). Anyway, they have a sushi table (???) so I am happy too ;) We went yesterday to celebrate Andreas' birthday, which was on the 5th! What a party!!

Deserts only a kid could love ;)

Happy boy!

The total concentration look ;)

The satisfied look ;)

Yes, the birthday boy got desert too ;)
