Postcards from Montreal
Yesterday evening, I went out with some of my work colleagues. We met up in a neighbourhood where I used to live except that, now, I can barely recognize it... all new except my trusted old laundromat (buanderie, in French). The snow is slowly melting and I feel sanity coming back again ;) We should be getting a bit more snow but I think that it will melt as it comes down. It is now almost 7pm and I can still feel the sun, shining through our living room window. How nice! One of the little things in life worth appreciating.

Glimpses of a Sunday
I had a conference at work yesterday so I am trying to cram the whole weekend into today... and not very successfully, may I add ;) Groceries... check! Superficial and unmotivated tidying... check! Organizing lunch supplies for the week... check! Dinner cooking... check! Attempt at making a berry crumble... check! Laundry... oh well... we can't always get everything done ;)
I do have 3 kids: I tried to get a picture of Alexander (below) but he is not into it so I added a picture of his hand, which was covering my phone camera ;) I will take what I can get ;)
We had snow over the past few days but we should be at 12C by midweek... this actually gets me looking forward to Monday ;) Still fantasizing about wearing sandals.....
Wishing you all a great week ahead xox

Saturday
Last night was pretty crappy: I had a headache that just knocked me out. Even though it was better by the morning, I felt wiped. Usually, that would put a pretty big dent in my day but, today, I was actually fine with it. The sun was shining and I had a good excuse not to do anything... or go anywhere... and, sometimes, we all need a day like that ;) Andreas put out the patio furniture. I helped him do some planting in the garden. The boys played on the trampoline. We had a nice, relaxing day in our backyard and it was a real treat!
This summer, we decided to only do very short trips away from home. Even though we had a great holiday in Scandinavia last summer, I am looking forward to spending time here... at home... enjoying our own space. There are so many outdoor projects that we would like to do and it will be so nice to actually get to them for a change. Is it wrong to want to be lazy? ;) Sign me up!
Hope you all had a great Saturday! xox

Weekend check list
Every Sunday, I do a kind of mental check list: did I get everything that I needed to do done? Most of the time, I am left with a bit of a depressed feeling because, given all of the things on that darn check list, there is so much that has been left unfinished... If we could have just ONE more day!
So, for the checks: Nicklas' birthday dinner. Soccer for me. Basketball for Alexander. Vacuuming. Cleaning the toilets. Oliver's play dates. A reference letter for work. A few emails for work (including saying yes to a conference in the Netherlands in June but that will be another story). Putting Oliver's Lego fish in water (seriously). Started my lecture for tomorrow. Groceries. Haircuts for 3/4 boys. Dinner with lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Sold top on Ebay sent off. Laundry. Homework for Alexander and Nicklas... so I have been reassured.
So, now the not finished: Soccer for Nicklas (I didn't realize it was cancelled this weekend until Andreas took him.... oops!). Lots of stuff that I wanted to get done for work that I have not finished... including the rest of my lecture for tomorrow. Folding laundry (see above). A long walk with Andreas. Organizing my closet. Putting away the last of the Christmas decorations. A long nap on the couch. Banana bread. Homework for Oliver (later this evening). Coherent blog posts ;)
Hope your check list is longer than mine... and that you have a good week ahead!

Date night
Because Andreas and I simply cannot get enough soccer (wink wink), for our date night, we went to see the Montreal Impact play. We got to yell and cheer without embarrassing the boys which, frankly, was not quite as fun as when the boys get red-faced because of us ;) Part of the perks of being a parent ;) Even though our team lost, we still had a great time!
Today was even more soccer: Alexander's team made it to the Regionals.... and won the finals this morning! Seriously, what an upset... but it was sweet ;) Now I have 8 post-game boys in my basement.. making lots of noise... but happy noise ;)
Happy Sunday to you all! xox

Glimpses of the last week...
Last weekend, we ended up having another blizzard... followed by nice, above 0C weather... now being followed with another blizzard :( This past week was filled with typical family chaos, lots of sporting events (the boys), starting the end of semster wrap up (Andreas and me), getting to finally wear spring shoes (even if it was only for 2 days), a fabulous art gala at Nicka and Oliver's school and lots of little things in between. I am happy that it is Friday! I plan on taking it easy... before the weekend chaos begins... Happy Friday! xox
Now.... here is some photo spam ;)
