The eye doctor

Yups.... Nicka needs glasses.... I had to talk him out of the tortoise shell/pink and the bright red frames. I am happy that he likes bright colours but I gently told him that it might clash with next year's soccer jerseys. He was satisfied with that answer ;)

Alexander went out with his friends so I brought these 2 clowns along... Well, Nicka had to be there because it was his appointment ;)

No, they are not with me ;)

Ten random facts

Ten random facts about me:

1) I clearly remember, when I was about 9 or 10 years old, getting a fortune cookie that said: It's a boy! Being a 9 or 10 year old girl, I cried. Little did that fortune cookie writer know how right they would be! Times 3!

2) We do some of our grocery shopping at IKEA. Actually, we leave with big bags full. Really.

3) I hate the sound of people chewing. OK... I don't hate it.... I REALLY hate it. Makes me nuts.

4) I don't like to go to movie theatres (reason: see fact #3).

5) I have a PhD from the Sundhedsvidenskablige Fakultet from the University of Copenhagen. I just graduated from there. Don't ask me to pronounce it.

6) I met Andreas while on a PhD course in Lund, Sweden. He was too serious. I told someone to buy him a beer. Three years later, we had Alexander ;)

7) I am a shopaholic... but only when there is a sale/bargain involved. Otherwise, it is not so much fun.

8) In my head, I am only a few years older than my students. Reality hits when I realize that a) my tattoos are older than they are; 2) they were born in the year that I went back to university and 3) I am older than some of their parents :(

9) Before going back to university, I used to work in the arts. I did my college degree in Theatre Studies (technical option). For 7 years, I worked as a stage manager/company manager for a few theatre and ballet companies before "retiring".

10) I am an insomniac and sleep with my radio on. It can only be "talk" radio, otherwise the music keeps me awake. Funny thing is that, when I wake up, I retain odd facts or pieces of news that I am not sure come from my dream or from the radio.

Ok... maybe this was all too much information ;) Wishing you all a great day! xox

Easter egg hunt

The Easter Bunny (besides leaving the gastro for Oliver) also left me clear instructions on how to organize an egg hunt for the boys. Due to Oliver's illness, EB left the eggs (personalized with a writing that somewhat resembles mine... imagine!), suggestions on where to hide the eggs and the treats that were awarded when the boys found all their eggs so that we could wait until he was feeling better. All I had to so was follow the instructions ;) Pretty nice of him/her/it, eh? ;) All this to avoid them thinking that it was actually me who was in charge ;) Honestly, I am encouraging the innocence as long as I can... despite the fact that I think that Alexander is on to me... but, with candy on the line, I don't think that he is going to wreck a good thing ;)
The weather was beautiful and we had a good time with the egg hunt! Oliver told me that the chocolate was a bit like medicine because it made his tummy feel better... Of course, Dr. Oliver ;)

On a sad note: today is my last day off from work... boo! Wishing you all a great day xox

Change of plans

I love long weekends!

Friday evening, we spontaneously (or as spontaneous as you can be with children) got together with our good friends/boys' best friends. We were treated with an evening filled with fantastic friends, wine, cheese and martinis (the hosting husband's latest hobby... thumbs up!). Hanging out with these friends has, in the past, resulted in someone waking up the next morning not feeling very well ;) and yesterday was no exception..... The only thing was that it was not the adults but Oliver (and I am positive that he did not partake in the martini drinking)...  Needless to say, after dealing with a little boy who couldn't keep anything down, our plans to host Easter lunch were in the toilet (pardon the parallel!). Our change of plans included getting very good at quick trips to the bathroom and taking shifts lying on the couch with a sick boy :( Considering it was such a beautiful day, our big boys quickly abandoned Oliver to go out to play with friends. Andreas took outside shift #1 to run some errands and I took outside shift #2 to take a long walk in the sunshine. After our latest snow/ice storm (late last week.... I spared you all the complaining.... you are welcome), everyone was out walking in the sun with a look of sheer shock and appreciation on their faces ;) That... and ice cream ;) We did manage to colour some eggs in between sick phases, so we kept some of the holiday spirit ;)

Today, we are planning to enjoy the apparently-equally-as-beautiful-as-yesterday day with a walk and, maybe, some ice cream (OK...  I was jealous yesterday). My nephew is playing hockey this evening so we are thinking of going to see his game. Oliver, so far, seems better (he is jumping on his brothers so I am guessing that he is better) so it will be nice to get outside. Honestly, every week should include, at least, a 3 day weekend. This is so civilized ;)

Have a great day! Happy Easter xox

Last day before Easter break :)

The boys are looking forward to the break. Admittedly, so am I. Four days of relaxing at home with family.... no school lunches to prepare in the morning... no waking tired boys.... saying yes to the requests for five more minutes before bedtime... watching them enjoy time in the neighbourhood play park and not having to call them in to do homework.... ahhhhh! :)

Hope you all have a great Easter long weekend!

Not just for the students

We have 3 weeks left of our semester. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thing is that, along with the light, comes the chaos-craziness of the end of the semester. It is clear, of course, that students get stressed out. Let me tell you that the teachers get equally as stressed. Major loss of brain cells is not just for the students ;)

Hope you are all having a great week so far. If you don't hear from me by Friday, send a search party. I am, most likely, buried under a pile of yet-to-be-corrected papers ;)

Way too short

What a rip-off! Have you ever wondered why the weeks seem so darn long and the weekends feel way too short. Imbalance in the universe! Excuse the rant but, after all the busy-ness called the weekend, I am dreading the end of Sunday... May I please have ONE extra day? ;)

Wishing you all a happy week... Too bad that every day can't be a Saturday xox
