Home

Just because the title may be misleading, I didn't just get back. Actually, I arrived home on June 19th but it was go, go, go since then. Nicka got back from his graduation camping trip... the boys finished school... our (meaning the boys') summer pool routine started... I had to get back into work... I turned 49 (that will be another post)... Andreas made a fabulous birthday dinner for me... we caught up on unpacking/laundry.... and I have to say that this is the hardest I have ever been hit by jet lag... So, it feels like a really long time ago that I got back but, on my agenda, it was only 11 days ;)

Thankfully, tomorrow is a holiday (Canada Day) so we get another day off. As much as I like to travel, I am always very happy to come home.

Hope you all had a great weekend... Here is some spam from around our home xox

Aarhus

I am now on the other side of the "pond" and in Aarhus. I am embarrassed to say that, after having lived in Copenhagen for 4 years, I never left Sjælland (the Danish island where Copenhagen is located) and have only visited Legoland and Lalandia since (our trip is here). Anyway, I am now in Aarhus and sorry that I never came here before. It is a charming small-ish city that has a ton of character and history... and the beautiful water views aren't too terrible either ;)

Last night, after arriving, I had dinner with the lovely Catarina and Karin, who I met in blog land :) I met up with Catarina in Legoland/Lalandia (same trip as above) but I never met Karin in person before. Actually, after knowing each other for about 10 years as bloggers, Catarina and Karin never met face to face either. Funny thing is that I felt like I always knew them and that they are old friends!

Today, my host here took me to the downtown core. She showed me around and treated me to a fabulous traditional lunch that consisted of Smørrebrød and Carlsberg beer. It was fantastic! After around 4 hours of walking around, I headed back to my hotel to write this and get ready for a conference dinner tonight.

After a busy conference schedule tomorrow,  I will head to Copenhagen on Friday for some work and not-work "meetings" ;) Warning: photo spam ahead ;)

Have a great rest of the day xox

Missing big events

Nicklas' grade 6 graduation ceremony is this coming Friday... and I will be missing it :( Early in the year, I was invited to give a talk at a conference and, lucky me, this conference is in Denmark! I was so excited about it... until I found out that Nicklas' grad was exactly the time of the conference. Andreas assured me that he will be video taping it for me but I still feel sad to miss the event. To make up for it, I took him shopping for his celebratory outfit. I had a good time with him and proud of how he is growing up. He even matched me in the love of picking up a Bubble Tea while we were at the mall.

I am sorry to be missing this big event but he knows that he will be in my heart on his big night.

On another note, be prepared for Denmark spam as I am leaving tomorrow ;) All I can say is almost 10 days of not making school lunches xox
