Mad Nicka

Yesterday, Nicka had a mad day. You know the kind where they are mad at you but don't know why. Actually, he was mad at everyone. True conversation: "Nicka, what is wrong?". "I am mad at you"."Why?". "Just because." Ummm.... OK.... Sorry- I won't do it again??? :P
Happily, all it took to get him to be un-mad (not a real word but it seems appropriate for the situation) was a trip to the grocery store. He got to help me return the cans (apparently, it is very fun to put the cans into the recycling machine), kept the deposit that we got back (SE/DK translation: pant, $$) and pushed the cart the whole time without Alexander bugging him. Plus, I bought his favourite cereal... Life was good again!

Wishing you all an un-mad day ;) xox

Summary of the last few days...

If I could summarize the last few days, it would be: cosy, rain, pancakes, boys, day to day craziness, more rain, healthy snacks (or making an effort for healthy snacks :) ) and soccer...

I think that I am finally getting over my jet lag. It has been a bad one after this trip but, honestly, I am not sure if it is just the jet lag or the overall fatigue from the last year at work setting in. Regardless, I am starting to feel a little more energetic- I will emphasize little more... no miracles here ;) - and not so overwhelmed for the upcoming return to school (for all of us). It is amazing how fast the summer is flying by!

We're just spending a cosy Saturday night at home.... wishing you all the same! xox

Here are some pictures that I took over the past few days....

Cosy time

Rain

Pancake time!

Happy boys eating pancakes

YUM! They actually tasted better than they looked ;)

More pancakes, please!

Am I the only one who LOVES radishes? The fresher, the better!

Soccer time! For me, that is!

More cool music...

I heard this song "Ta Mig Tillbaka"(by Darin) a lot on the radio when I was in Sweden (in English: Take Me Back). It reminds me of driving in Smaaland, with the windows down and the sun shining. Definitely a nice memory! I will be back later with a real post.... getting back into the "routine" has been more chaotic than I had thought.... ;)

When the skies are grey.....

.... trouble is on its way ;) Yesterday, our boys were excited to see their BEST FRIENDS EVER! We had them over and, when boys cannot be entertained outside because of thunderstorms, they make their own fun inside. Unfortunately, this mother doesn't always understand their definition of fun. I think it included Mortal Combat, soccer, sumo wrestling and each other. The boys caught on right away! Andreas just pretended ;) Happy day to you all xox

Thundershowers rolling in....

The result! :)

Home!

We are home... and jet lagged ;) I am getting a little bit of help, though. When I was staying in Denmark, I found Cafe Noir coffee capsules that are compatible with my Nespresso maker :) Actually, I am enjoying them more than the original capsules and becoming quite addicted ;) I blame the jet lag (actually, I think that I am just addicted). I stocked up before leaving Denmark (thanks to Netto) so I might have enough coffee to get me through the next few days. The capsules fit so nicely into the new coffee canister that I bought in Sweden :) Sometimes it really is the little things...

Our trip was great but the actually act of traveling makes me long for teletransportation ;)

Wishing you all a great weekend... we're back to the grind already..... xox

Evening out

Maybe I forgot to mention that it was my 45th birthday at the end of June- the 25th to be exact-... and maybe I forgot to mention it because we were in an airplane for a good chunk of the day. Let me tell you that being in an airplane is not very conducive to celebrating birthdays ;) Anyway, at this point in my life, I am not so into celebrating birthdays... however, Sunday night, my lovely husband treated me to a great dinner at a local place called Musselbaren (= if you don't like mussels, forget it). I LOVE mussels and these ones were harvested just a few meters away... can you say "fresh"? We had a nice (and quiet = no boys with us) time. It almost made it worth being one year older ;)

Balance in the universe

I would say that, since about half an hour after waking up this morning, I have done constant laundry, constant refereeing and constant snack preparation... yes, there is balance again in the universe ;) After the ultra calm in Copenhagen, karma is now getting even with me ;)

PS: I wouldn't have it any other way.... except with some awesome Swedish sweets that we picked up for a special fika.... :)

Wishing you all a great day...

I gave in to some time on their tablets... nice mother for about 10 minutes ;)

More laundry on its way...

Copenhagen pt.3

Of course, Copenhagen is a beautiful city and a pleasure to visit because of the architecture and design. For me, what holds it close to my heart are the friends that I have here. Our relationships are built on the years that I lived here... and the years since. That sort of past together doesn't come easily and I value them all. This is the main reason that I love this place!

PS: I have missed the opportunity to take the pictures of many of the friends that I have met up with here but, luckily, convinced a few to let me capture them... or them capture me ;)

Copenhagen pt.2

What? Normal people (I mean people without children.. haha) get to sleep in sometimes? AND they get to sit down at a cafe and read a newspaper... the WHOLE thing? AND take off to have a beer with friends when they want to? AND there is this totally strange sound in the mornings called silence ;) OK... I would never trade my boys for anything in the universe but to catch this glimpse of life for a few days is, I have to say, pretty awesome- if not totally disorienting ;) Parents- you totally know what I am talking about ;) Even though this is an appreciated couple of days, I will be anxious to see the boys come Thursday....

In the mean time, more Copenhagen...... xox

This last picture is taken by my good friend Ola... taking pictures isn't pretty ;)

Copenhagen pt.1

Andreas and I arrived in Copenhagen, after a type of trip that can only be described as a couples challenge test ;) Anyway, after we finally managed to get on the train to Denmark, we could finally relax... We had a great few days, catching up with old friends, and now Andreas is on his way back to the boys- and his parents/friends- in Sweden. I get a few extra days here :) I love being back in Copenhagen!

Here are a few glimpses..... there will be more to come!
