Friday

Today, I got to work from home... which usually includes me actually getting the chance to see my house in daylight.... and noticing all the dust bunnies.... and pulling out the vacuum cleaner... and about 5 million other cleaning products ;)

After getting some work done (and a good clean), I made a big pot of coffee, filled up 2 travel mugs and met Andreas so that we could see Alexander's rugby game. I said it last year and I will say it again: Rugby is the perfect boy game (I am sure it is good for girls too but I don't really know about them so much if you know what I mean): they run after a ball... they throw a ball... they tackle each other... and today was raining so that added to the fun ;)

I love Friday nights because they are so optimistic. There is always so much hope that I will actually get my long list of things-to-do done over the weekend and there is so much time left to do it in. Sunday is the sad day where I realize that I didn't really succeed and there is no time left ;)

Happy Friday night to you all xox

10 random things that annoy me

Happy Friday! Since it is a week filled with corrections and that I am pretty tired and fed up of winter, I thought it might be fun to share my "10 random things that annoy me" list. Actually, there are quite a few more than 10 things that annoy me but I tried to keep it to the most immediate in my mind ;)  Here it goes:

10 random things that annoy me:

1.The sound of noisy chewers.

2. People try to charge into an elevator before the people that are IN the elevator have the chance to get out.

3. Screaming, yelling YouTubers that play video games and record themselves.

4. The fact that all 3 of my children love to watch the screaming, yelling YouTubers.

5. Snow.

6. Instagram shots that have weather that is WAY too nice (ie: people that get to wear sandals already).

7. The fact that I am super jealous of the people who are wearing sandals already.

8. The calorie listing on chocolate (please, just let me think that there are only 10 calories in a whole chocolate bar).

9. Speaking of chocolate.... Andreas brought me a Marabou chocolate with orange crisp bar from Denmark (it is actually Swedish chocolate but he bought it in Denmark). I hid it, thinking that I will eat it when I really have a chocolate craving... only to find that- when I REALLY wanted it- someone else had found and eaten it already (yes, I know it was Alexander... even though he denies it).

10. When I watch boys at home walk over the same dust bunny on the floor and pretend that they don't see it. I KNOW that they see it....

Stay tuned for the next 10 random things that annoy me... I can go on forever ;)

Happy Friday evening!

I remember (actually, I think I remember... it seems so long ago) a time when Fridays meant going out in downtown Copenhagen, dressing up, drinking way too much Carlsberg, smoking a ton of cigarettes, buying kebab and pommes frites (or visiting the pølsevogne) on the way home, swallowing that preventative aspirin before going to bed and- if that aspirin didn't work- spending most of Saturday morning avoiding life in general. Now, a good Friday night equals nothing to do/nowhere to go, a good glass of wine, pajamas, slippers and cozy time with the boys. It was fun while it lasted but I wouldn't go back for a minute!

Wishing you all a good Friday night xox

Foggy Friday

When we woke up this morning, it was amazing how foggy it was! The night was quite cool but, at 6am, it was already above 8C. Both the fog and the warm morning temperatures at the middle of November were totally magical!

Tonight, Alexander is going to the movie theatre with some friends and I have agreed to take them. Kind of like a post birthday celebration with friends.... Wish me luck ;)

Wishing you all a great rest-of-your Friday... and weekend! xox

Postcards from Montreal... nothing gold can stay....

This week has been filled with the unexpected and sad... From President Trump to our Veterans' Day to the loss of the beautiful Leonard Cohen... Lots of events to ponder upon...

Wishing you a peaceful Friday night xox

Getting ready for Christmas.... already!

Thinking about those who fought in the Great Wars

Party on a bench... sparking wine... not just any party ;)

Falling leaves

Great resting place

The Yellow Door is celebrating 50 years... which included Leonard Cohen... RIP

Over the week

It is becoming increasingly clear that the trees in Montreal have received the "autumn memo". Suddenly, there is orange, red and yellow everywhere. The days are still pretty darn beautiful but the mornings have a chill that causes me to argue with the boys so that they, at least, put a sweater in their school bags (today I argued with Oliver about the sweater... and then he wanted gloves... ugh!). The sunlight has this special golden colour and it is a total pleasure to be outside. As much as I love autumn, I am well aware of what is looming behind it. For now, I will pretend that winter does not exist and get as much joy out of autumn as I can. This weekend, I am sure, will be as chaotic as the week. Ahhh... family life ;)

Wishing you all a great Friday! Here is a little photo spam from around Montreal xox

Morning playdate

This morning, I managed to get Nicka and Oliver to school with time to spare. Since Alexander starts earlier now and he is biking in by himself, it is easier to get out of the house at a decent time (I say that now... let's see how long that lasts for ;) ). Nicka, when we arrived, saw his friends and made a beeline to them. Buh-bye, mamma! Oliver's friends had not arrived yet, so we spent a bit of time together in the park until his teachers came out/his friends arrived. It is nice to have a few minutes... with no nagging... enjoying the morning together... until the friends arrive and I am dismissed ;) It makes for a smooth start to the day!

Wishing you all a great one! :)

Friday night

I think that everyone was happy for Friday! Andreas spent the day with me at work (yes, sometimes we actually work together too) and, after stopping at my favourite cafe for a coffee to go, we took the train home together. After picking the boys up from school, I took Nicka to pick up his new glasses. He put them on and, suddenly, looked like such a big boy! We spent the rest of the evening being cosy...  I made the boys home-made chicken nuggets and, after tired boys went to bed, Andreas and I treated ourselves to a sushi take out. Talk about tired... I think that we lasted about half an hour after we finished eating ;)

So glad today is Saturday.... one more week of teaching :) We promised the boys to "camp out" in the living room this evening. I will let you know tomorrow if it was a good/bad idea ;)

Wishing you all a great weekend xox

Ahhhh... Friday :)

Today has been rainy but almost 16C... so I will take it :) Most of our backyard snow is gone and the grass is starting to green. Don't you find that people's moods just change when the weather gets warmer? I actually see smiles on faces... and people say hello... and chairs on terraces start to fill (even if that is still pretty optimistic). It will go back down to -3C on the weekend but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.... Maybe I should go find my sunglasses? ;)

Wishing you all a relaxing and cosy Friday evening!

Yes, I am happy too :)
