Excitement for Swedish boys

Last weekend (I know... I am a slacker and totally late in posting this), Andreas, Alexander and Nicklas all went to see the Montreal Impact soccer team play against the LA Galaxy. The biggest reason why they wanted to see the game was that the famous Swedish player Zlatan Ibrahimovic (see here if you have no idea who he is) was playing. Pretty exciting.... Even more exciting was that the boys (including Andreas) got to be a part of the pre-game show and ending up being just meters away from Zlatan (can you become cool through osmosis? 😉) ! Although Zlatan ended up getting red carded, the boys were all pretty impressed and had a good Swedish boy bonding day. Sorry, Impact, usually you get our support but, on this day, it was all about Zlatan 😉

Kid birthday party

No joke- kid birthday parties wipe me out. Even though I spend the party drinking coffee (just coffee... nothing spiked... really), I always feel a bit hung over the next day. Maybe it is all the kid energy? Maybe it comes vicariously through the sugar buzz? Maybe it comes from all the coffee? ;) Despite the wiped out feeling, I am always thankful that they do not happen at our house anymore... up until the age of 2, we are good for home parties. After 2, forget it... and I learned my lesson the hard way ;) Now, I almost throw money at outside party places, shouting with gratitude: Here, have something that feels like a thousand dollars! It is worth every penny not to have this chaos at my house! ;) Well... I don't really say that... but close enough ;)

Yesterday, was Oliver's party.... and today, I feel like I am nursing a kid-party-hangover ;) Guess it was a good party ;)

Slow motion

Needless to say, our boys have a lot of energy... even too much sometimes! There is a good reason why we bought them a trampoline... or rather... why we invested in a trampoline. The investment is primarily in the maintenance of parental sanity... especially when they start bouncing off the walls! Anyway, despite the usual energy, the second I let them know that it is time to get ready for bed, the boys all adopt snail-mode. "Please plug in all electronics upstairs and go brush your teeth" is secret code for "act like a snail and very, very, very slowly drag your butt upstairs and look for every possible excuse to drag out the getting ready for bed process until your mother loses her marbles". I am sure of it because what should, in reality, take about 2 minutes to accomplish ends up resulting in about 30 minutes of me repeating myself and them not doing what I am asking them to do. It is totally exhausting and I end up being the one who would be SO thankful if someone was telling me to go to bed. Bed time? Sure thing! Sign me up ;) Boys, you have NO idea what you are missing!

Happy day to you all xox

Random internet picture that looks remarkably like the boys ;)

Happy birthday, Oliver!

Today, my baby turns 8.... not such a baby anymore! Sometimes, I wish time would slow down... just a little bit ;) Happy birthday, Oli-boli! We love you!

Small gratitudes

All winter, I have been physically craving sun and warmth. You know, the kind of warm sun that finally thaws your bones and fills your soul. Well, I finally got it. I took a moment to feel the sun on my face and the green grass under my feet. Trust me, I was thankful. The brightly coloured flowers, my favourite polka dot dress and an awesome cup of coffee didn't hurt the good vibes either ;)

Wishing you all some warm sun and things to be thankful about xox

Just wanted to wish all those with children in their arms, hearts or dreams a very happy Mother's Day.

I received some beautiful handmade gifts... the very best kind!

Last night was pretty crappy: I had a headache that just knocked me out. Even though it was better by the morning, I felt wiped. Usually, that would put a pretty big dent in my day but, today, I was actually fine with it. The sun was shining and I had a good excuse not to do anything... or go anywhere...  and, sometimes, we all need a day like that ;) Andreas put out the patio furniture. I helped him do some planting in the garden. The boys played on the trampoline. We had a nice, relaxing day in our backyard and it was a real treat!

This summer, we decided to only do very short trips away from home. Even though we had a great holiday in Scandinavia last summer, I am looking forward to spending time here... at home... enjoying our own space. There are so many outdoor projects that we would like to do and it will be so nice to actually get to them for a change. Is it wrong to want to be lazy? ;) Sign me up!

Hope you all had a great Saturday! xox
