New meaning

In the past, if I was kneeling in front of the toilet on a Saturday morning, I would have chalked it up to a good time on Friday night. Now, it just means that I am cleaning up after boys. Hmmm... the 2 experiences are both pretty nauseating ;)

Spending too much time together? ;)

Between having guests over, the boys at home, a shedding Christmas tree, shedding animals and regular day to day living, I am spending a lot of time with my vacuum cleaner lately. Maybe even too much time ;) Anyway, yesterday- while I was vacuuming (again!)- I looked down and saw this heart. At least, my vacuum appreciates the together time ;)

Didn't I just do that???

Does it ever happen to you that you are totally convinced that you JUST did something.... only to have to do it again? It happens to me ALL THE TIME! For example, today, I looked around our dog-fur-filled house and thought "Didn't I JUST vaccum?". You know what I mean!

Here is today's list of "Didn't I JUST do that?":

- didn't I just take the dogs out for a pee... like 5 seconds ago?
- didn't I just nicely fold ALL the laundry?
- didn't I just do the groceries?
- didn't I just buy Alexander soccer cleats that were intended for ALL summer?
- didn't I just pay all the bills?
- didn't I just say good bye to winter?
- didn't I just buy them school pants?
- didn't I just tell Oliver that we were leaving in 5 minutes?
- didn't I just ask Nicka not to pet the dogs when he is wearing his black soccer shorts and about to leave?
- didn't I just take out the garbage? Composting? Turn on the dishwasher?
- didn't I just write a blog post? (oops... it has been a few days... my bad!)

But, hey, now I am doing it again.... ;)

Cosy day

We decided to keep it cosy today... The boys have been warned that we are taking their tablets away, come Tuesday and, after school starts, video games/Youtube will only be for weekends. So, today, they are definitely getting their fill ;) It suits me because it was my clean-til-I-get-absolutely-fed-up day and it was nice to be able to get it done without having to ref a bunch of fights!

Yesterday, Alexander's soccer team won their game so they are going straight to the finals. How exciting! We celebrated by getting together with some friends that we coach with (same family that we went camping with.... guess if they invited us back that they still like us, despite the camping). It was a late night but lots of fun, with great food and friends. I am going to miss the summer crowd!

Tomorrow is the last day off before we all return to school.... Wow! Where on earth did the time go?

All about what is possible...

When I used to live in Denmark, pre-children, I used to fantasize about having one of those very white, very sparse, very Scandinavian style homes. You know, the ones in designer magazines... like Ikea, only better... Kind of like this:

Then we had children... boys... three of them... so our house looks more like this:

Turnip time

Andreas planted some turnips (amongst other vegetables) in our garden this spring. I love when we get to harvest-and use- them! The latest bounty (?) is our turnips. Actually, there was also a green pepper but Oliver started to eat it before I could take a picture of it ;) I am excited to make a soup, with the turnips. Wow- something the kids actually like!

Yesterday was a busy day.. yes, that is my sort of apology for not blogging yesterday :(  I am trying to get my work-work done before heading off on a mini camping holiday. That will be a totally different blog entry: my honest thoughts on camping with kids ;) I am also trying to stick to my summer resolution of cleaning out every room in our house... urgh! Not my favourite thing to do!

Pancake breakfast

This morning, Andreas made Swedish style pancakes for breakfast. I like to make them too but, for some reason, his turn out better. Maybe it is genetic? ;) The boys were super happy... and presently on a pancake/maple syrup high...

We are enjoying a rare Saturday where no one has a soccer game scheduled!!! I took advantage of the morning to clean out our downstairs bedroom for Alexander (could it be that he actually wants to have his own bedroom now???) and get some much needed house clearing done. Do you ever have a day where all you want to do is get rid of things and clean out the extra stuff? All of a sudden, you look around and think "Man, we have a lot of crap!". Today was one of my days like that!

This afternoon, we are going to visit some friends that we haven't seen in a long while. I am really looking forward to it!
