One thing that will make me very happy this summer....

... is not having to make SCHOOL LUNCHES!!! Besides homework time, making lunches has to be one of the most dreaded things that I have do as a mom. If I make them too healthy, the boys don't like them. If I put a piece of crappy food in the lunch box, then I feel guilty. Alexander and Nicka have such different tastes that both of them end up complaining about their lunches. UGH!!! THERE IS NO WINNING....  just lots of whining ;) I won't even get into my daily ventures into the Land of Mismatched Tupperwares and the Missing Lids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Missing water bottles drive me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahh... the thought of being "school lunch free" for most of the summer is heaven... only until Oliver starts kindergarten in the fall and then I will have THREE lunches to make.... argh!

*This post has been brought to you by Venting International and Mamma Celena ;)

Am I the only one who feels this way??? Wishing you all a good day!

The dreaded lunch box ;)

  2. I recommend the Dutch lunch, it is so simple: one or more a sandwiches with peanut butter, cheese or anything and a packet of milk. The boys arrange it themselves during breakfast. And a bottle of water.
They eat fruit when they return home from school.
But I understand what you mean!

    1. My boys would eat that just for their morning snack ;) Out of curiosity, how long is a Dutch school day on average?

  3. In the morning they eat the same as for lunch. Youngest has school until 15.15.
We have our hot meal about 18.30.

  4. I hate doing packed lunches. I have one child who has a ham sandwich, crisps and carton of juice daily. He won't eat anything else I add in. I cringe at this but he is healthy and eats plenty at home. His sister has much healthier and varied lunch box. I just find it a tedious job, even though not that time consuming. I'm with you on the missing water bottles! Three weeks to go before holidays...

    1. Our last day of school was yesterday and I "high-fived" every mother that I saw ;) I don't know who was happier: me not having to make lunches or the boys not having to go to school for the summer! I am thinking of you for the last 3 weeks!! Courage :)
