Postcards from March in Montreal

How the heck did it become March already? Don't get me wrong... it feels a bit closer to spring so I am not complaining but it is a reminder about how time flies!

This week is our (Andreas and my) spring break. The boys are all next week. It is the first time ever that I do not have the same break as the boys... I think that they planned it so I wouldn't nag them about their Youtube watching, snack eating or day napping 😉

Today, Andreas and I went downtown to walk in a different neighbourhood so, guess what? You get a photo spam (aka a postcard). We're not quite spring-like yet but hope is in the air.

Hope you are all doing well xox

Dear 2020

Dear 2020,

Why did you end up being so weird? On January 1st, you were so promising... I had such hope. Since then it has been all down hill. First, some strange illness appeared in China.... then the US and Iran started a face off.... then there was a plane crash in Iran (hmmmm? Co-incidence?) that killed almost 200 innocent people... then it turns out that someone had shot that plane down  (Not so co-incidence)... then that strange illness in China (now known as Coronavirus) started to kill a lot of people... then we our roof leaked (compared to everything else it was no big deal but a pain in the butt anyway), the helicopter crash that killed 9 people and changed the face of basketball, escalations in Syria (again 😢) and then the Coronavirus spread... and spread... and spread to pandemic proportions. Now borders are closing, the airline industry is tanking, countries are quarantining their populations... and I couldn't even go on my much looked forward trip to England and Amsterdam (PS: I was supposed to leave today) 😑 Instead, I have 3 boys (actually 4) who are bored already and fighting 😒 and I just came back from Costco in anticipation of the snacks that bored teenagers will be eating 😉

Now, 2020, I keep waiting for you to say "Just kidding" and have everything return to normal. We would all get a good chuckle and continue on our regular daily lives. Thing is... I don't think that will be happening any time soon. Good thing that my Costco shopping trip included wine... a few bottles 😉

Let's get it together now, 2020. It is only March. You still have time to make it up to us. We'll give you a bit more time to pull yourself together and then it better be filled with glitter and unicorns... and more wine 😉

Totally sold out of toilet paper,,, now people were going for paper towels ;)

Yes, this was the line up for the cashes... all the way to the back of the store!

Funny... this is not far from my usual Costco haul ;)

Winding down 2018

On a scale of 1 to 10, 2018 rated as a definite "Meh". It is not like anything bad happened... it was just the kind of year that makes you glad that it is soon over. 2018, to me, was like stepping in dog poop: it won't kill you but a pain in the ass none-the-less ;) I will be glad to move on to 2019... and cleaner shoes ;)

Happy winding down 2018! May the last few weeks of the year be on the upswing xox

The small stuff

Sometimes, it is all about the small stuff: nice weather, mirrors telling me that I was hot (!), blooming tulips, cool window displays and, best of all, a coffee pod that was hiding in the bottom of a box that I had thought was empty.

Hope you all had a great day xox

Why! Thank you! ;)

This found coffee pod totally made my day!

Early morning

Hello all!

Today was a "back to reality" kind of day... and an early back to reality, if I might add ;) The boys are still off and poor Andreas is the one who has to manage getting work done from home today because I had an early meeting... and a late one. It was hard to walk out the door when the sun was just creeping into the sky... and while the boys were still cosy in their beds.. but I was rewarded with a beautiful sunrise and a good cup of coffee on my way into work.

Happy Tuesday xox

The upcoming return of a regular schedule

Even though our holiday was really appreciated, there comes a time where a regular schedule is needed again. The boys are missing their school friends, the rhythm of a day-to-day, the regular weekly activities... and they are missing homework.... hahahaha- no, not homework- I just made that one up ;)
So, tomorrow, is back to school day. For the boys. For me. For Andreas. At the start of the holidays, I used to torture the boys by pretending that the next day was a school day. NOOOOOOOOO! they would yell. Now, I say the same thing and I think that they are OK with it. Oliver is even planning the snow fort that he will make with his friends at recess tomorrow. Nicka isn't eye rolling me as much and Alexander just nods. Yups... back to the routine. Guaranteed that tomorrow will be tough... but welcome.

Hope you have a smooth transition back to daily life.... See you on the other side ;) xox
