This week is Spring Break, at least for me and the boys. Andreas works at a different university and, I am certain, has paid some serious money to have his break the week before ours ;) So, today, to get the boys off their electronic games, I ended up taking them to the mall.... to spend their birthday/Christmas money to buy.... guess what..... more electronic games... ugh! It is our philosophy that it is their money = their decision but maybe we need to revisit that one ;) Anyway, don't let the pictures fool you! They were having a blast at the mall. Since we are just in between an ice storm and snow storm, there weren't many people around (seriously, this is one of the first times I have ever seen the place so quiet). We went into the stores that THEY like. They got to speak geek with teenage geeks, which was beyond cool. We went up the escalator and down the elevator. We visited the big fish tank in the mall. We played with Legos at the Lego store. We spied on people from the floor above. We ran into their school principal, who was also shopping in the mall.... wait, that last one was a little freaky. The principal actually leaves the school? Strange concept ;)
Anyway, *I* was the one who was begging to get out of the store. I was the one with the eye rolls.... Absolute role reversal ;)
We are now back at home. The boys are happily putting together their Lego sets. The snow has started falling and I am enjoying some quiet time and a glass of wine. Happy Spring Break!

My 500th post!
I can hardly believe that this is post #500. It took me a few days to post because I kept trying to put together the "perfect" post. Who the heck am I kidding? That is not going to happen.... not on this blog ;) So, I will celebrate post #500 with a few pictures of my boys.... the reasons why this blog exists <3
Happy weekend to you all! xox

WTF?
This week, I decided with the boys, is a WTF kind of week. You know, the kind of week where odd things are happening, no logic exists and you are in a constant state of walking around with one eyebrow raised. The kind of week where you need to say "WTF"? Except that, for the boys, the F stands for football.... OF COURSE, it does ;)

Yes, the Oscar is so white
This is our cat, Oscar. The boys found it very funny that he would make it to the news. On the radio, they heard that the Oscars were so white. The only thing that they found strange is that we only have one Oscar ;)
Have a good evening xox

Birthday party for boys....
Andreas and I had tickets for a fabulous fundraising gala on Saturday night. This party has the best food.... ever. It also has the best silent auction items.... ever.... which is not as good as the food and absolutely terrible for the wallet ;) Since last year, I had a potential dress picked out for the event. Andreas was making a game plan to get the best food fast. We then realized that we had a little problem.... I had booked Nicklas' already postponed birthday party for exactly the same night.... argh! So, last night, we skipped the caviar, awesome wine and delicious food and had homemade cupcakes, apple juice and delivery pizza in its place ;) We traded in 1200 plus fancy guests for 12 boys (who, guaranteed, made lots more noise) and we wouldn't have had it any other way :)
It was a great party... and I got to wear comfortable shoes ;) AND I am sure that we had better loot bags ;)
Wishing you all a great week xox

Little things
Some days, it is just the little things that bring happiness to the day. This morning, I didn't have to stress out too much to get the kids out the door (who am I kidding? Yes, I did stress out... just not as much as some other days). I didn't need a hat... or gloves ;) I stopped at my favourite coffee shop for a latte to enjoy on my walk to work. The sun was shining. It is closer to 0C than -100C. I don't have teaching today... just catching up. I love the pants that I am wearing today (yes, a good clothes day). Last but not least, the radio station that I usually listen to at work is playing a lot of my favourite music. It is a good day. Wishing you all the same xox

Nicka and his book report
I was absolutely forbidden to post this picture before today... in case any of Nicka's classmates saw the picture. That, mamma, would ruin my secret, surprise costume for my book report presentation. Why, of course! So, after the successful presentation this afternoon, I can now post this picture of Nicka, acting out his favourite book character. Can you guess who? ;)

Happy Valentine's Day
I always love getting homemade cards from the kids. They capture the essence of each special occasion better than any commercial card can do. This year, we got a lovely card from Nicka. He says it best so I will leave you all with his words.....

Freezing
It is freezing outside today. Not just a little cold, not just a lot cold but absolutely freezing. I think that we are pretty close to North Pole kind of cold and I am not exaggerating.... I am SO glad that it is the weekend and we can stay indoors :P
I will not say anymore ;) Hope you are all having a good weekend so far. If you are living in a place that has some extra nice, warm weather that you don't need, please send it to us. It would be GREATLY appreciated xox

Ped days and pancakes
Today was a ped day. No school for the boys = a very inefficient work day for me. I embraced the fact that I wouldn't be very productive... and made pancakes ;) The boys thought that I was being VERY productive. Why, thank you :)
I will catch up on work later this evening...
Happy weekend to you all xox

Thank you!
Over the holidays, I received a beautiful package in the mail from one of my blog friends. It was filled with little bits of creativity and special-ness (not sure if that is a real word but it fits). In the package, there was a postcard with a message on it. Funny how that message left an impression with me, one that I will carry throughout the year. It just needed a little adjustment from MORE to LESS ;) Then it was perfect..... ;)
Happy Tuesday to you all! xox

Les hiboux pt. 3
Guess who.... hoo-hoo! Oliver's owl friends from kindergarten class made a surprise guest appearance this evening. Over the Christmas holidays, Oliver got his very own owl. His name is Owl-iver. Seriously, that was the name that came on the tag. How could I resist that one? ;) So, all the owls got to meet each other and have tacos with us. After dinner they all had cosy time on the couch, watching Harry Potter. It was a good thing that the movie contained a lot of action because, in that case, the owls couldn't hear Oliver's mother stressing out about the big brothers' homework ;)
It is always a pleasure to host La Famille Hibou xox
(PS: Owliver is on the top left hand side. He blends right into the family ;) )

More haircuts...
All the boys were into getting their hair cut and done up with lightning bolts... I have no idea where they get their sens of style from. Andreas and I are so NOT cool... We'd probably end up with cuts that include part of the periodic table ;)
Not so sure... ;) |
That's more like it ;) |

So excited!
We booked our summer holidays! One week in Prince Edward Island with some of the most awesome people that we know. The house will be filled with seven kids (6 boys + one poor girl) so I have reserved these two seats for me and my sister wife.... just imagine.... but with a keg of margarita mix between us ;)
Ahhhhh.......

Montreal morning
On Tuesdays, I start teaching at 8:30. That means that I have to leave my house before 6am. It can be a rough start but, you know, I am actually starting to enjoy it. I get to watch Montreal wake up in the mornings.... slow, calm start to the day. Sometimes, I pick up a coffee at my favourite cafe and just appreciate the walk to work. Yesterday was one of these days....
Hope you had a good day xox
