Last hours of 2019

In these last few hours of 2019, I am reminded of all that I am thankful for from this past year: my beautiful boys, my always entertaining husband, the family I knew, the family I am getting to know, my beautiful friends that I see on a regular basis, my beautiful friends that I don't often see but think of regularly, the opportunities that I have been lucky to have taken up and the opportunities that I have been offered but had to decline.

I am also thankful for being able to share my day to day with you all. See you in 2020! 😘❤

Flooding... again....

In 2017, some neighbouring towns ended up flooded (see here). It was really terrible and many people lost their homes because of it. Even more terrible is that many people finally rebuilt only to have more flooding over the past few days. Can you imagine? After finally fixing your home, it floods again. So awful!
So, today, Alexander, Nicklas and I went to help bag sand so that those affected by the rising waters could protect their homes and those that already had some flooding could minimize the amount of water coming in. Although the initial intent was so that they could burn off a bit of energy, not fight and stay away from video games, it was sobering to see so many come to pick up sandbags for their homes. We were really happy to see that quite a few people came out to help. The event was so well coordinated and we felt blessed that we could help out. They both said that it felt good to have filled so many bags with sand... and that filled my heart.

Thinking of all those who are trying their best to save their homes... again....

Thankful to be able to help out on such a beautiful day

Team work

Look! No fighting ;)

So many who needed bags and, thankfully, so many who came to fill them

More sand to put into bags

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Can I still say that? The first few days of January have been a bit of a haze... and, now, back at school/work is a bit of a shell shock experience. So far, 2019 seems like a good one but it is way too early to tell. You know when you can tell? If it is the end of February and you still have your marbles together. THAT is a good year. Oh yeah... marbles together and boys have not lost every single one of their gloves.... or hats.... and their boots still fit.... and you are still able to make lunches that they like. SO, for the moment, it looks like a happy new year... but ask me again in February ;)
