Basin Head beach

Yesterday, we went to the fantastic Basin Head beach. Bonus for boys: there is a bridge that you get to jump off. Bonus for adults: you can buy great (and inexpensive) lobster at the Lobster Shack, just outside the town of Souris. Given the last point, guess what we had for dinner? ;)

Today, we are going to Cavendish to check out the beach there and maybe try the outdoor laser tag. I am sure that there is nothing that the boys would prefer to do than shoot at their parents ;)

Wishing you all a great day xox

Terrible place ;)

I started my morning with a coffee, some sun and a walk on our very quiet beach. The boys were running around on the field by the house so all I heard were the waves.... this is such a terrible place ;) It is so terrible that I am debating just staying here ;)

Tonight, we are having fresh mussels with white wine/cream/garlic sauce.... yum!

Wishing you all a wonderful Tuesday (and, yes, I had to check on my computer what day of the week it is) xox

Andreas also thinks that this place is terrible ;)

We have arrived!

We are in Prince Edward Island!!!

Actually, we arrived last night but, given all the excitement, it was next to impossible to find a moment to post ;) The W family had arrived a few hours (quite a few hours... sorry!) before us and were a great welcome party when we finally got to the house :) The boys were so excited to see each other (and our boys were ecstatic to get out of the car)! After the customary our-family-boy-accidents (Nicka sliding down a small cliff, scratching up his legs AND losing Oliver in the backyard- seriously-ugh!), we sat down to a glass of wine and enjoyed the fact that we are on HOLIDAY :)

Here are some pictures of the house that we are staying in. Yes, that is our own private beach :) We are taking it easy this morning so more pictures will come later today xox

More of our beach!

We can hear the waves from our bedroom :)

The boys get this awesome backyard!

Percé

Today we made it to Percé. The whole trip from Matane to Percé was totally spectacular; the highway (Québec 132) runs just beside the St. Lawrence River/Atlantic ocean and has some amazing views. We stopped in some fantastic little towns and had great seafood at roadside cafés. The boys got to throw rocks in the water (always a hit) and eat ice cream (even more of a hit) by the sea. We drove through Gaspé (sorry that we couldn't stop) but wanted to get to Percé so we could explore a bit.... and we were definitely not disappointed!
Tomorrow, we are getting up early to make it to PEI by dinner time. See you there, W family! So excited!

Matane

Day 1 summary of our trip: bored boys on a long car trip (674 kilometers to be exact.... Andreas insisted that I put that in) ;) We arrived in Matane and enjoyed the view.... and food (fresh fish and chips). Our motel is right on the St. Lawrence so we can see the water from our doorstep.

Next stop.... Percé!
