It has been a while...

I keep coming to my blog to write but then the tab stays open and I get tired even considering putting my thoughts together.... we started January on a 8/10 on the blah scale, which has quickly escalated to a clear 13/10. Looking back to my "welcome 2022" blog post, I can only say that- in just over 3 months- it didn't age well 😞

I will spare you all and save my rantings for in person nights with friends and wine (where you are always welcome to join) but just wanted to say "C'mon 2022- there is still time to get it together!" The current situation is so sad, brutal and frustrating. I realize that I only understand a very superficial layer of the current war between Russia and Ukraine but, looking at my almost 18 year old son and husband who would be expected to fight, my heart hurts for those touched by this unnecessary catastrophe.

Sending out hugs... we can all use some...

Dear 2020

Dear 2020,

Why did you end up being so weird? On January 1st, you were so promising... I had such hope. Since then it has been all down hill. First, some strange illness appeared in China.... then the US and Iran started a face off.... then there was a plane crash in Iran (hmmmm? Co-incidence?) that killed almost 200 innocent people... then it turns out that someone had shot that plane down  (Not so co-incidence)... then that strange illness in China (now known as Coronavirus) started to kill a lot of people... then we our roof leaked (compared to everything else it was no big deal but a pain in the butt anyway), the helicopter crash that killed 9 people and changed the face of basketball, escalations in Syria (again 😢) and then the Coronavirus spread... and spread... and spread to pandemic proportions. Now borders are closing, the airline industry is tanking, countries are quarantining their populations... and I couldn't even go on my much looked forward trip to England and Amsterdam (PS: I was supposed to leave today) 😑 Instead, I have 3 boys (actually 4) who are bored already and fighting 😒 and I just came back from Costco in anticipation of the snacks that bored teenagers will be eating 😉

Now, 2020, I keep waiting for you to say "Just kidding" and have everything return to normal. We would all get a good chuckle and continue on our regular daily lives. Thing is... I don't think that will be happening any time soon. Good thing that my Costco shopping trip included wine... a few bottles 😉

Let's get it together now, 2020. It is only March. You still have time to make it up to us. We'll give you a bit more time to pull yourself together and then it better be filled with glitter and unicorns... and more wine 😉

Totally sold out of toilet paper,,, now people were going for paper towels ;)

Yes, this was the line up for the cashes... all the way to the back of the store!

Funny... this is not far from my usual Costco haul ;)

Toilet troubles

I live in a household with 3 boys... and a husband... so, actually, that equals 4 boys. I also live in a household where my toilet smells like an alleyway after a beer festival, if you catch my analogy. Yes, it smells like pee. Actually, it is not the toilet that smells like pee but it is the porcelain base around it, and the floor, that reek. Guess what? It makes me crazy. I have a sensitive sense of smell and it drives me nuts. Actually, I could be missing a nose and still smell it. So, every day, I become crazy pee-on-floor cleaning lady.. or ranting crazy-pee-on-floor cleaning lady.... Maybe you are asking why this is so.... it is BECAUSE I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO SITS DOWN!!!!

Anyway, after 10 years of our poor toilet absorbing pee smell, I had enough. When Andreas asked me what I wanted for Christmas, I broke down and asked for a new toilet. Seriously. I wanted a toilet that had no nooks and crannies underneath it. I wanted one that was easy to keep clean. I wanted one that was new... and with a big bowl... preferably with a target painted in it. The last part is a joke but you know what I mean. He refused to buy it for me for Christmas but did not argue when I went out and bought one anyway. I guess he understood my frustration but was also probably sick of hearing me rant. Anyway, yesterday, our new toilet was installed. The plumber called it the "Cadillac of toilets".. seriously. I don't care about that... I just want something that does not smell! I was hoping that the "Cadillac" came with its own cleaner but, alas, no. So, we are back to a clean toilet.... with a big bowl.. and I am still debating painting the target on the inside of the bowl ;)

Happy Saturday! xox

See- clean... and smell free :) Please note the easy to clean base!

Welcome to the family ;)
