Good intentions :)

Yesterday, Oliver came to work with me. He had not been feeling well on Sunday and Monday so I figured it would be best to have him with me for a "make sure that he is OK day" rather than getting called by his school just before I head into class ;) Anyway, we ended up finding parking about a 10 minute walk from work so I gave him my gloves to wear.
Flash forward to this morning: I asked him if he still needed my gloves (he was getting ready to go to school). He said no because he had his good, warm ones. Great! I get my gloves back and put them by my coat. I keep getting ready to leave.
I always end up being the last to leave the house because I turn off lights/check the stove (I am OCD) and make sure nothing has been left behind. Andreas and Oliver wait for me outside. Anyway, this morning, I can't find my gloves so I look to see if Oliver put them somewhere else. Can't find them. I look in the glove drawer for my extra ones. Can't find them either despite having bought about 10 of those little black ones last week... and another 10 over the holidays. I check the clock. We have to leave so I give up. I get into the car and wonder aloud about my missing gloves... ALL OF THEM. Strange! Andreas laughs. Oliver tells me he took them for his friend because this kid always forgets his gloves. I almost felt guilty taking back my gloves because Oliver had such good intentions. Sorry, Oliver's friend, MY gloves! I also have a sneaking suspicion that kid has a collection of my little black gloves at home ;)

RIP Zoey

Our old dog, Zoey, passed away earlier today. I was at home with her. The boys are sad...especially Nicklas. Our other dog, Fanny, is just figuring it out- she knows.

RIP Zoey 💔

Old dog

We have 2 dogs (along with the rest of our chaos). Fanny is a beagle and Zoey is a much bigger mix dog. They will both be 13 years old this year. We adopted Fanny as a puppy while I was on maternity leave with Nicklas (that craziness is a completely other story!). Zoey came into our family when she was 8 years old. The two dogs have become inseparable and a big part of our family. While both dogs are the same age, we have noticed over the last few weeks that time is not as kind to Zoey and she is not doing so well anymore. There are days where she won't eat or move much. On other days, she seems more like her usual self again. Up and down. We are preparing ourselves that she might not be around for much longer. This will be really hard on Nicklas who is our "dog" kid.. he really loves them and, especially since Fanny is really Andreas' dog, has taken Zoey as his own.

We are appreciating every day... xox

Happy 13th birthday to Nicka!

Wow! Another teenager in the house!

Today, our beautiful Nicklas turns 13 years old and he has made us all so proud (although his brothers may not want to admit it). He has turned into a loving, smart, funny, football obsessed, sensitive and kind young man. We love him!

So plans for the day include cake for lunch and a family dinner out. Wishing the rest of you a very happy Saturday xox

Happy birthday, Nicka!!!

Random thoughts on a Thursday

Some random thoughts on a Thursday... plus a bonus photo spam because I have been bad at posting lately!

1) My dishes regularly disappear and they magically reappear in Alexander's room. No one seems to know how they got there 😉

2) We just booked our plane tickets for 2.5 weeks in Spain this summer. This might just keep me going over the winter.

3) I am trying to cut down my sugar intake. This means I am not very fun to be around lately 😉

4) One of my students brought Marabou chocolate back from Sweden for me. See #3 😉

5) I don't care enough about cutting down my caffeine intake to actually try that one.

6) Even though I had laser surgery a few months ago, I still try to adjust my non existent glasses.

7) Speaking of no longer wearing glasses, I am so unbelievably happy to go through a winter without my glasses fogging up when I come indoors from the cold.

8) I am seriously fantasizing about being able to wear sandals again! My boots, although lifesavers in the winter, are so heavy! At least it feels like a workout 😉

9) Oliver's favourite expression lately is "Jesus Christ!". He says it a lot. Not really sure where that one came from.

10) I am often amazed at how Andreas' sense of humour genes have appeared in Nicklas. Well preserved and maybe even improved in the next generation. I think even Andreas is in awe sometimes 😉

Wishing you all a happy rest of the week! May it be fast and easy 😉xox

Happy New Year!

The new year started slowly... we got a late start, lots of coffee (for the adults... thankfully not the kids.... they totally don't need it 😉) and some outside time. Andreas and I went for a walk and then came home to have a snowball fight with the boys. Since I gave my gloves to Oliver who had misplaced his, I was an easy target... and someone had to take some pictures 😉 Despite the snow, it has been quite warm so it is not too bad to be outside so not too many complaints from over here 😉

Hope you all had a slow start to 2020. Happy New Year xox
