Monday, Monday

On Friday, we got a lot of snow (see my comments on it here). You would think that Mother Nature is tired of making the white stuff but- alas, no- she must have been resting up and drinking her Red Bull. We woke up today to another good white dump... right in time for rush hour ;) Also, I played in a soccer tournament this weekend so my legs were not so enthusiastic about trudging into work (imagine wearing heavy boots while walking in sand... same thing) 😉 I cheated and took the metro so it cut my walk in half... best money ever spent 😉

Yes, it is pretty but only when you don't have to go anywhere 😉

Happy Monday to you all xox

Even the crow seemed confused by all the snow ;)

Is that a snowbank... or a car? ;)

Monday/Tuesday... into Wednesday

Monday was a holiday here (Labour Day) so I assumed- silly me- that I managed to escape a typical "Monday" at work. Boy, was I wrong! My Tuesday ended up being so "Monday-ish"... including my early morning train being almost 1 hour late to a broken photocopier at work to a broken projector in my classroom to constant little annoyances... ALL DAY LONG! Did I mention that I had forgotten to buy coffee for my work machine? Oh, yes, that went wrong as well ;) This morning I woke up feeling hopeful.... until we discovered a flat on one of our cars (at least it was only one at the time) and I developed a general grumpy mood. OK, Monday, I had enough! Stop polluting the other days of the week ;)

Wishing you all a better start to the week than I had ;) xox

Small gratitudes

All winter, I have been physically craving sun and warmth. You know, the kind of warm sun that finally thaws your bones and fills your soul. Well, I finally got it. I took a moment to feel the sun on my face and the green grass under my feet. Trust me, I was thankful. The brightly coloured flowers, my favourite polka dot dress and an awesome cup of coffee didn't hurt the good vibes either ;)

Wishing you all some warm sun and things to be thankful about xox

Musings on a Monday

1) Why do Sundays always seem so darn short? Mondays, like today, seem to drag on forever but Sundays fly by...

2) Am I the only person in the world who is really terrible at putting on mascara?

3) Why do women put their make up on in the train? As per musing 2, how on earth are they able to do it without looking like a raccoon... or without making the strangest facial expressions?

4) As per musing 3, some women actually do make the strangest facial expressions... but probably don't care... or think that it can be amusing for others... which it is ;)

5)  I am not sure why some people insist on using the possessive (ie: 's) to indicate plural (ie: the boy's went to the store). Maybe they know that it bugs me ;)

6) Maybe I shouldn't let other people's grammar bother me so much ;)

7) Lately, I am really into the colour pink. It could either be the result of a long winter... or living in a house full of boys!

8) Why is it that bills always seem to fill up my mailbox... but there is a clear lack of cheques?

9) I need to get a haircut (translate: someone else who will wash and brush my hair)...

10) Andreas bought me a gift card for a local spa for Christmas. I am dying to use it for my spring pedicure. I need bright pink toe nails.

Hope you all had a good Monday xox

Thankful for the small stuff... the cold Monday edition ;)

So far, this winter, we are having the crappiest weather. Yes, I know- I always complain about winter but, this year, I am almost beyond complaining. I cannot count how many days (like most of the holiday) were just so cold that we had people on TV and flashing things on our phones telling us to NOT go out. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to heed their good advice ;) Today is one of those days ;)

In light of this cold Monday, I am thankful for my new and very warm/waterproof boots. Best money I ever spent! I am also thankful for my snow pants... and my hat! AND that I had coffee waiting for me when I got to work :) Sometimes the little things are the REALLY appreciated ones!

Happy Monday to you all! Stay warm... and sane ;) xox

Yes, yes, I know. We have sun... but even the sun seems to think that it is too cold ;)

Glimpses of the weekend

Most of the weekend was filled with soccer (all boys, including Andreas). My league has been on a spring break lately so I haven't been playing... but I have been busy coaching. Yes, apparently having 3 boys not listen to me is not enough in my life ;)
The weather has been great and, despite all the running around, it was nice to reconnect with friends that we haven't seen for most of the winter. The little lilac tree that Andreas planted for me a few years ago is about ready to bloom and, with the bit of rain- on top of the sun- that we had this weekend, everything is very green. I managed to get a bit of sun on my face during our Saturday games. Did that ever feel nice! I even put away all the winter clothes... and found about 10 kilograms of rocks in Oliver's coat pockets. Andreas even made us all an awesome Monday pancake breakfast!
Now, our Monday holiday is winding down and the boys are finishing up their homework. I am enjoying the last bit of not having to be anywhere. Back to work tomorrow!

Wishing you all a good week xox

Montreal snow dump

As mentioned yesterday, we had a snow storm... and it only finished after I got to work today. Needlessly to say, there is a lot of #$@@#** snow on the ground. So, to spare you the vent, I will just post some pictures. If you like them, I am happy. If you also dislike snow or are sick of it, then you can sympathize with me.. It is not like we had a crappy winter to date.... I just miss my sandals... and my sanity ;)

Happy Monday ;)

This is a car... seriously...

See... you can just make it out ;)

What a MondayTuesday!

Today was a definite MondayTuesday! It all started off with a morning where just about everyone thought it was hard to get up...
Then:
- Alexander forgot the yellow jersey that he needed to wear for his school's pride event.
- I felt bad but had NO idea that he needed a yellow jersey.
- I even dressed him in a black t-shirt, of all colours!
- The nice little drizzle that started in the early morning turned into freezing rain.
- Andreas was going to take the yellow jersey to Alexander but ended up having to scrape ice off the car instead.
- We were late taking the younger boys to school because we had to scrape a ton of ice off the cars.
- Andreas and I missed our train and had to take the next one.
- I decided to take a taxi and miss my lovely walk because I would be late.... and soaking wet... for my 10:05 am class.
- I made it to work at 9:45 and found that I had run out of coffee :(
- I taught from 10:05 until 11:25... which ended up being more like 11:30.
- In my 10:05 class, I found out that the projector (that I needed) was broken.
- I taught from 11:35 until 2:25... which ended up being more like 2:35 because the student evaluations that I was doing ran late.
- I taught from 2:40 until 3:55.
- I found out that the projector that was broken in my 10:05 class was STILL broken and I needed it for the student presentations in my 2:40 class.
- I ended up eating my lunch at 2:45... and, unfortunately, it was a stinky lunch... but I had to eat it during the student presentations.
- I had to rush out at 3:55 to catch the train so that I could pick up the kids on time. By the time that I actually got out of the building, it was 4:03 :(
- Every boy had homework that they suddenly remembered...
- Andreas was held up at work...
- I had to clean up cat throw up from the floor.... and there is nothing more disgusting than cold, wet cat throw up :(
- It is 8:04pm and Alexander is still practising his baritone downstairs....
- The younger boys don't like the sound of the baritone...
- Isn't it bed time yet? ;)

Happy Monday-Tuesday... may tomorrow be a better one ;) xox

A little break....

Today started off with lots of rain..... and 14 degree C temperatures :) Take that snow! We're getting a little bit of a break before cold weather and snow is back again. That is fine! I'll take it :)

The return of autumn!

Today was about 10 degrees C colder than yesterday, reminding me not to get too used to last weekend's weather ;) Although cooler, it was really sunny and great sweater weather... that is pretty nice too! Hope you had a great day!

A real night out

I decided today that Andreas and I need a real night out :) One that involves dinner without interruption, a nice glass of wine and, heck, maybe even coffee/desert! Maybe I will even dress up a little bit.... Live on the wild side ;)

In the mean time, we went to the local park to watch Alexander's "extra" soccer practice. Night out, yes. Not exactly what I had in mind, though ;)
Good night to all!

Laundry at our house or happy Monday!

After this weekend, this is what our laundry rack looks like :) Nothing really besides a bunch of soccer gear!
It is funny but, before having kids, I used to think that the weekends were a break. Now, post boys, I look forward to Mondays as a break. Funny how that happens!
Wishing you all a good start to the week!

Lunch break on St. Laurent

Hello to all! It was a really busy morning at work; I had to get a paper resubmitted (please keep your fingers crossed for me) and there was lots of end-of-semester-stuff to do. Anyway, when it was finished I treated myself to a lunch break walk. I work in a pretty cool neighbourhood, with lots of good window shopping and people watching, so it was a nice bit of me-time :) Back to work now.... Have a nice rest of the day!
